VFW Auxiliary to Lockport Post 2535 Illustrating America Poster Contest

VFW Auxiliary to Lockport Post 2535 Illustrating America Poster Contest

Several students from Barker CSD were recently recognized for their artistic talents by the VFW Auxiliary to Lockport Post 2535. Students in the surrounding area were encouraged to participate in a national patriotic art and poster contest to promote youth patriotism. This year’s theme was “Illustrating America” for elementary and middle school students.

Out of 350 submissions, which was the most that the contest has ever seen, six Barker students and their Art teacher Melissa Phillips were excited to learn that their artwork had been selected for an art exhibition on Memorial Day weekend at the VFW Auxiliary.  The top art piece from each grade category will be sent on to the New York State VFW Auxiliary with the potential of being on display at the national level.

Congratulations go to: Ayvah Kropp (6th Grade), Gracelynn Bachman (6th Grade), Allegra Schmitt (1st Grade), Nora Heitzenrater (1st Grade), Hudson Wendler (2nd Grade) and Estevan Stymus (5th Grade). We are so proud of these talented students!
